European Student Orchestra Colloquium in September

European Student Orchestra Colloquium, 16 – 18 September 2016

The European Student Orchestra Festival (non-profit organisation) organises events which bring European student orchestras closer to each other, just like the ENUO. Classical music is the bonding factor uniting the student musicians and university symphony orchestras all over Europe. ESOF creates opportunities for the orchestras to perform concerts within the framework of the festival but also provides an array of support-activities for members of the orchestra, active board members and orchestra directors during and in between the festivals.

Creating a European network for student orchestras calls for some strong connections, or links. From their festival experience, they’ve learned that the conductors of student orchestras are unique characters. They are more than musical leaders. They inspire students, beyond their university obligations, to also commit to experiencing classical music… together.

Along with organising the festivals, ESOF wants to build a platform for conductors and cultural representatives from European universities. Therefore they need a strong channel of communication for the transfer of information between conductors, orchestras and cultural representatives. In September 16-18, ESOF organises a colloquium.
